Coastal Urgent Care provides patients with access to urgent care delivered by experienced, compassionate medical professionals. Our walk-in services ensure that anyone in the region can find skilled care when they need it most.
We’re committed to keeping our patients at the center of everything we do, and we believe that knowledge is integral to health. The Coastal Urgent Care team lives out that belief by supplementing our outpatient medical care with informative, carefully curated blog posts relevant to the lives of those we serve.
Accuracy is critical in information about medical matters, and we want you to know you can trust the content we release. That’s why our unified medical care organization only makes posts that have undergone review by a knowledgeable provider.
Because we believe in caring for our patients on every level — even outside the office — our Washington and Oregon Medical Operations Director, Amy Hinshaw, regularly reviews our blog posts to ensure we publish the highest-quality content. As a certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Amy has an accomplished background in medical care, ideally positioning her to verify the information we share with you.
Amy obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes Jewish College in 2010. She went on to earn a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program from Maryville University of Missouri in 2016.
While working toward her master’s degree, she served in several positions at Barnes Jewish Hospital, including as a Charge Nurse in the Surgical Progressive Care Unit and the Hepatobiliary and Transplant Surgery division.
Amy began working as an FNP in 2017, caring for patients at Waterfall Community Health Center. Here, her experience as a Charge Nurse equipped her to handle high-complexity cases across an underserved population. Working closely with the Behavioral Health team to provide whole-person patient care, she addressed both chronic and acute medical needs pertaining to conditions such as liver disease, diabetes and anxiety.
In 2019, she joined Southern Coos Health Center as an FNP, where she provided both general and acute care. In 2020, she worked through Amwell Telemedicine to provide patient care via telehealth during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this role, she diagnosed conditions remotely and performed COVID-19 screenings while easing patient concerns.
Amy joined Community Care Partners in May 2020 as a family nurse practitioner in an urgent care role. Her experience with underserved populations and complex cases served her well. It continued to develop as she cared for patients experiencing homelessness, substance abuse issues, acute respiratory illnesses and a wide range of other medical concerns. December 2021 saw her step into the BestMed Medical Operations Director role for Washington and Oregon, where she implements her comprehensive approach to care on a regional level.
Amy Hinshaw has numerous licenses and has undergone various continuing education courses, equipping her to provide exceptional health care:
